The Kindergarten Louvre

I hope you guys can make it in to see our "Kindergarten Louvre" to see our class being the Mona Lisa and saying what they are thinking about!  They turned out very cute!

Fall Door Decoration

We decided to go with an apple theme for our fall door decoration!  With the help of Mrs. Robyn making the apples and signs for us, we drew, colored, and cut out a tree and moon!  The kids had a lot of fun using teamwork to figure out how to get it done and I think it turned out really cute!

Healthy Eating -Greens Plus Energy Bars

We started our healthy eating unit today.  We made a list of things we can do to be healthy:
1. exercise- like push-ups, running, and swimming
2. Stretching- like splits
3. Eating healthy foods- like fruits and vegetables
4. sleeping

A while back I wrote to some companies to send us some samples of healthy treats for the kids to try.  We got 5 different treats so each day this week we will try one!

Today we tried a Greens Plus Energy Bar thanks to Ali Maiorana at Greens Plus. http://greensplus.com/index.php/cPath/84_29

The kids LOVED them!  Take a look at their comments (can you tell we have been learning about exclamation points!):

“It’s delicious, I love it!”

“Yummy”

“I don’t like it, I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!”

“I love them more than anything in the whole entire world!”

“It was delicious!”

“I really like them!  Thank you for giving them to us!”

“Thank you for making these!!!!!”

“I love it!!!!!!!!!!”

“It almost tastes like caramel chocolate!”

“You’re the best!  The chocolate is so good!”

“I could eat the whole entire box…all of them!!”

After I told them what was in it (lots of good for you things including wheat grass, alfalfa grass and beet juice!):

“I don’t like those ingredients but they are so good when they are smooshed together!”

“Well, guys, I love you!!”

“What great ingredients!”

Cooking club

Cooking club is our favorite Friday activity!  This week we learned about simmering, measuring broth, pureeing, and stirring (so that things don't go flying everywhere!) We made carrot ginger soup.  I was unfortunately not there for the eating part as I had a district meeting to attend but it smelled so good while it was cooking and the kids had so much fun making it!

It was funny that all of the kids covered their ears for the blender.  The look on their faces as it instantly pureed the carrots was priceless as well!

Kindergarten Artist Week!

This week was art week in kindergarten.  We learned about Leonardo da Vinci (if you get a chance, stop by and see the kids "being Mona Lisa" on display in the hallway), Michelangelo, Matisse, Miro, and Picasso.  The kids all recreated famous works.  Some were chosen to be on display in our class!  On Monday, the kids will each choose their "masterpiece" to be framed!

To be like Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel, we drew on paper under our desks!

Miro's "People and Dog in Sun" masterpiece winner!

Michelangelo's "God Reaching to Adam" from the Sistine Chapel masterpiece winners!

Matisse's "Icarus" masterpiece winners!

Picasso's "Boy in Sailor Suit with Butterfly Net" masterpiece winners!

Miro's "People and Dog in Sun" masterpiece winner!
