Zach- Half and half because they have a tail and funny hair.

Alex- Gills that are on their fins.

Anna- Half and half so they can be in water or on land.

Myleina- Half and half because they have gills on their tails to breathe underwater and lungs to breathe on land.

Liam- Gills because they can breathe underwater.

Madilyn- Half and half because they can breathe in and out of water.

Lorelei- Half and half so they can breathe in water and out of water.

Question: Could Santa use penguins to fly his sleigh?

Being a classical school, we often pose questions to the kids that may or may not have a definite answer and have them use things they have already learned to answer.  Here is one question from December!

Could Santa use penguins to fly his sleigh?

Piper- Yes because Santa has magic dust that could make penguins fly.

James- No because penguins can’t fly.

Gunner- No because if penguins left the South Pole they wouldn’t be able to get their babies up to the North Pole with them.

Kaden- No because penguins can’t fly.

Lea- No because penguins can’t fly.

Bradley- No because even if penguins could fly up to the North Pole and Santa chooses them, they would get eaten by the polar bears first.

Ronja- No because penguins can’t fly.  Their wings are only for swimming.

Lorelei- No because penguins can’t fly.  Reindeer can only fly because of their horns and Rudolph’s bright nose.

Ayriannah- No because they can’t fly.  Their wings are to swim.  Santa needs reindeer.  They fly with their paws.  If the penguins go to the North Pole they will get eaten by polar bears.

Ethan- Yes because the penguins would fly up to the North Pole and they would be flying so the polar bears can’t eat them.

Mason- No because penguins would be eaten by polar bears if they went to the North Pole.

Zach- Yes because they have wings and Santa could use magic dust.

Riley- No because they can’t fly.

Anna- No because if the penguins went all the way to the North Pole the polar bears would eat them before they could fly.

Liam- Yes because they can fly.

Eden- No because penguins can’t fly.

Carson- No because the baby penguins are too tiny

Alex- No because the only way would be for them to swim or waddle.  Penguins can’t fly.

Alivia- No because they can’t fly very good.

Myleina- No because if the penguins have babies, the babies would get eaten by the polar bears.

Seamus- Yes because if the penguins went to the North Pole they could dunk in the water and swim around the polar bears to Santa’s sleigh.

Gingerbread Man Hunt

Hi all!  Sorry about the delay in posts!  I had some technical difficulties the week before the break then didn't post at all over the break.  So, here are some things we did in December!!

We read the story of the Gingerbread Man this week!  A student brought in some yummy cookies for us to eat after the story.  When we went to eat them though we discovered that they had run away!  Luckily Ms. Slade found them for us and had them in her office.  The were in trouble because they were running in the hallway so they were doing math work in the office!
