Thanksgiving Feast

What a fun feast we had!  Like the first Thanksgiving, we all sat on the ground.  We used forks though instead of our hands to eat our food!  We all had a wonderful time and ate a lot!  Afterwards we got to do a craft.  Thanks to everyone who helped!

Kindergarten Pilgrims

While learning about the pilgrims, we got to make butter!  We did not go to the grocery store to get it, we "churned" it.  Some of us ended up with whipped cream because we got so tired!  It is tough work being a pilgrim!

After we made the butter, we got to eat it on crackers and it was super yummy.  We also learned about the buttermilk that you can drink or make pancakes or other treats with!

We made extra butter and delivered it to the wonderful people who work in our front office!  They may have gotten whipped cream too instead of butter but they were sure thankful!  We also gave them spiced tea that we made in cooking club!

Guinea Pigs

Meet Jimmy Graham!

We started the year with 2 very cute guinea pigs...Marques Colston and Lance Moore.  Marques Colston got sick and had to leave our class then Lance Moore died on Halloween.  It was sad but we were able to write letters to Lance Moore (the human) and draw pictures for Lance Moore (the guinea pig).  Now, thanks to Mr. Ripko, we have a new guinea pig: Jimmy Graham!  He is so cute!  The kids call him Jimmy Graham Cracker!  He is just getting used to life in the classroom so we haven't been able to play with him yet, but we are hoping soon!

Native Americans

We have been learning about Native Americans in kindergarten this week.  In addition to learning about the early Native Americans' houses, food, clothing, and hobbies, we also learned about how they got their names.  Today the kids got to create their own Native American name (you'll have to ask them about it!) and headbands!

Making a star like Betsy Ross

On Thursday, we learned about Betsy Ross making the first American flag.  She folded her fabric and only did one cut to make the stars!  We tried to do the same thing.  Some of our stars were amazing and some of them looked like Yoda!

Cooking Club- Banana Split Dip

We made banana split dip in cooking club today with Mrs. Corine!  It was fun to make and delicious to eat!  The kids wanted the recipe so here it is:

2 tbsp Low Fat Vanilla Yogurt
1 tbsp  Fat Free Whipped Topping
4 Cherries (or strawberries)
1 tsp Walnuts chopped, (optional)
1 med Banana

Directions

Chop the cherries either in a mini chopper or with a knife.
Stir the yogurt, whipped topping, cherries and nuts (if desired) together.
Send the dip to school in a small container with a banana.
For after school, slice the banana and use pretzel sticks as skewers to serve.

10 kids!!

Sometimes on Fridays we get to do "Friday free choice" where the kids get to choose the activity they do.  Today is  Wednesday but we only have 10 kids at school today so we got to do Friday free choice on a Wednesday.  The kids have had fun today since there are not many of us in class but they are ready for all of their friends to come back!  Feel better everyone who is home sick.  We miss you!
