Mardi Gras!

We learned about Mardi Gras in kindergarten this week!  We had king cake, caught beads, made masks, "hit the deck" to get doubloons, and had a fais do do!

The Queen!

We had a special visitor: The Queen of England!  She arrived today to help us learn about tea party manners to prepare for our Valentine's Day Tea Party!  She also let us have a tea time with some delicious apple tea and we got to make our very own crowns!

Founding Fathers

We've been learning about some of our founding fathers in kindergarten!  Today we got to go back in time and be the founding fathers!  We got to sign the Declaration of Independence with our quills!  Then to make it look old, we colored it yellow and crumpled it up!

100th day of school

We celebrated our 100th day of school by being old ladies and old men!  And we put together a 100's chart, and counted out 100 beads for a necklace, and made a snack with 100 treats, and made a 100th day of school hat!  What a fun day!

Service Learning

We started our service learning campaign last week where we get to teach our community about how we can make less trash!  Last week the kids wrote out a survey (Do you use your own bag at the store Always, Sometimes, or Never) and had family members answer it.  We graphed our results this week!  We have our work cut out for us!

Adding to 20!

We worked on adding up to 20 this week!  Wow!  The kids got to pick the strategy they wanted to use: fingers, cubes, dots, or brain.  Some kids got super creative when they realized they didn't have enough fingers to count to 20!

A Very Berry Mess!

We had SO MUCH fun in cooking club today.  We made our own whipped cream (wow, that takes a long time!), pureed our own strawberries, and mixed those things together with whole strawberries and brownie bites!  So yummy and so fun!
