Friday Super Writers

We have 4 super writers this week.  These girls won the award for remembering and writing all of the lyrics for Let It Go in their journals during our journaling time!

For our squiggle page writers, Liam won a super writer award for a fabulous non-fiction piece about tornadoes (complete with a website to go to for more information) and Alex won for a brilliant and funny fiction piece about Olaf!

Bring your favorite vegetable to school party

As part of our party, everyone had to eat a "Russell Sprout"- my favorite veggie- and then we got to call my brother Russell and tell him we were eating Russell Sprouts!

There were mixed reactions on the taste.  Some LOVED them and some DID NOT LIKE them!!

We had a lot of green veggies!!

I brought a couple of GIANT Brussels sprouts to show the kids what they look like.  A couple of kids ended up eating them because they liked them so much!

Lots of yummy roots, flowers, stems, leaves, seeds, and fruits of the plant (but we call them veggies)!

Lots of yummy treats!

A frog craft!

Yellow donuts!

Having a fun time before the egg hunt!

A great egg hunt!

Super Writers!

We had a writing contest and these two each wrote 15 sentences!  One child wrote a fiction piece about a gingerbread man and the other wrote non-fiction piece about plants! WOW kindergarten!

St. Patrick's Day celebration!

We were scientists to see if Skittle really had all of the colors of the rainbow.  We learned it is "not true" because they are missing blue and indigo!

We ate shamrock cookies!

A naughty leprechaun trashed our classroom looking for his gold!

We had to clean up the room to try to find the missing pot of gold!

We found the treasure!

We were so kind to the leprechaun that he turned nice and brought us little hats and pots for our treasure!

We learned about the Blarney Stone in Ireland and practiced kissing it!

Leprechaun traps

Today we had to use teamwork, problem solving, compromise, and creativity to create a leprechaun trap.  Fingers crossed that on Monday we will catch one!
