Fruit Salad

For cooking club today we got to make fruit salad with Mrs. Brooke.  Everyone got to be on a fruit team to prepare the fruit to be put in the bowl.  Then we all got to eat it and it was so yummy!

The Queen of England

To begin our leaning about The Declaration of Independence, we had the Queen come visit us!  We learned lots of fun facts about the Queen (including how to bow or curtsy and never touch her) and we also learned about how a long time ago the King of England ruled over our country.  The Declaration of Independence freed us from England.  Now though the Queen and our President get along so we can be friends with England again!

Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, we got to practice using our manners during our tea party!  We also got to show that we know how to set a table.  It was great fun to be able to dress fancy and be super polite while drinking tea (with our pinkies out) and eating yummy treats.  We also got to decorate boxes and deliver Valentine's to everyone in our class!

We decorated shoe boxes with all kinds of fun stuff.  The highlights were the lip and moustache stickers!

Mardi Gras

Since I am from Louisiana, I like to share some of my cultures and traditions with the class.  Mardi Gras is a fun event that we get to learn about in class!  We ate king cake, got beads and write about them, made masks, and had a great time reading stories!

I have a Dream

We reciting part of MLK's speech during a recent assembly and the kids did great! The video from the assembly did not turn out so well though so here is a reprise from our classroom!

Wright Brothers

We had a lot of fun learning about the Wright Brothers this week and all the work they put into making the first motor powered airplane.  We tried to be like the Wright Brothers in class and we made our own airplanes...paper airplanes!  We had flying contests, and like the Wright Brothers, if our plane did not fly so well we make some improvements on it so that we got better and better!
