Theodore Roosevelt and the Secret Service

Last week we learned about Teddy Roosevelt.  He was the 26th president of the USA.  He is one of the presidents on Mount Rushmore.  He built the Panama Canal.  Teddy saved a bear's life.  That's why stuffed bears are called Teddy Bears.  I hope you learned a lot about Teddy.

Also last week, somebody named Bo visited us and he is from the secret service!  We were so excited that we made and wore ear pieces, glasses, black clothes, communication devices, and badges.  My code name was Trevor Higgins.  We learned how to walk at protect the president at recess.  If you have a question about the secret service, ask it in the comments.

Abraham Lincoln and the Queen!

Last week we learned about Abraham Lincoln: He was the 16th president of the USA.  They have a song for Abraham Lincoln. It goes like this: Honest Abe freed the slaves, 16th president of the USA.

We also learned some manners when the queen came.  Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of England.  She flew here to teach us.

On Friday, we had a Valentine's tea party.  We ate lunch together and a funny thing happened.  I broke the cut the cheese rule a lot.

    Do you know anyone famous?

Founding Fathers

Last week we learned about Presidents!  The two we learned about were Thomas Jefferson and George Washington.

George Washington lived at Mount Vernon.  He was the first president of the USA.  People said that he should be king but he said, "I will be president."

Thomas Jefferson lived in Monticello.  He wrote the Declaration of Independence. He was the third president of the USA.

Over the weekend we watched the Super Bowl.  The Bucs whipped the Chiefs 31-9.  I watched with Mrs. Baker, Shawn, and my grandparents.

Who did you want to win the Super Bowl?  And who is your favorite president?

Oceans

We learned about oceans last week!  There are five oceans in the world: Indian, Southern, Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic.  Mollie and Ellie were at Hawaii in the Pacific Ocean.  My favorite ocean is the Indian Ocean because I like its name and it is by my favorite continent Africa.

Many animals live in the oceans!  Dolphins, octopus, and whales live in all five oceans.  Sharks like warmer oceans but some go to the colder oceans.

The whole class (besides Mollie and Ellie) did reports on an ocean animal.  I chose my favorite ocean animal the dolphin.  Baby dolphins are called calves.

What is your favorite ocean animal?
