SAINTS/Broncos Rivalry

All week I have been putting SAINTS things in the teacher's mailboxes at school in preparation for this weekend's game againt the Broncos.  Today they (and my class got me back!!)

I made SAINTS cookies for the staff and they decorated them with Broncos colors!

After being called away from my room for 30 minutes this morning before school started, I came back to a Broncos classroom!  One kid called it a "Broncos mess" and said we should make a "SAINTS mess" on Monday!  Be prepared...the writing on the tables and desks was in icing and when you put 5 year old and icing in the same room it doesn't matter where it is...they will eat it!

There were blue and orange streamers everywhere!

This silly Broncos pony was hanging from our screen!

Let's lick the icing off the table (I just kept thinking...at least we all just had strep throat and were on an antibiotic so maybe no one will get sick from this!)

A parent e-mailed out (with the permission of our principal) for all the kids in my class to wear a Broncos shirt or blue and orange!!  I had no clue about any of this and just so happened to be wearing SAINTS gear in preparation for the big game!  The staff also all wore Broncos gear!

Icing moustache!

The Broncos class and SAINTS teacher!

This arrived in our class while we were out at recess!

This is what our poor door looked like!

My car (whose name is the SAINTS mobile) was covered in Broncos balloons and signs!

We did a graph predicting who we thought would win the game!  At the end of the day I felt victorious that the SAINTS are in the lead!!

Field Trip

Field trip pictures will come soon.  I am sad to admit that I forgot my camera and do not have any pictures (I blame the strep throat!)  I am having people send me pictures and will post soon!

Artists

Last week we studied famous artists: Miro, Michaelangelo, Matisse, and Picasso.  We even made pictures like the famous artists we learned about!

These are pictures and videos of our class being Michelangelo painting the Sistene Chapel.  We drew on paper under our desks but we did not go blind!

We read a story about Matisse called Drawing with Scissors.  We decided to do a Matisse masterpeice called Icarus by painting and cutting!

We had some star artists in our class whose masterpieces looked just like the real thing!

Character Council

Every month we get to have two big kids come down and teach us about the core virtue of the month.  This month is self control and the kids did a great job talking to the big kids about it!

The 100 club

We have 3 100 club prize winners!  Congratulations!!!   Once a kindergartner can count to 100 they get a medal and their name goes on our 100 club sheet!

Kindergarteners decide- Was Columbus a hero or a villain?

Columbus was a hero
Maddie thinks he is a hero because he made our maps and said the world was round.
Ryan thinks he is a hero because he discovered our land and made our maps and said the world was round.

Naveen thinks a hero because he made our world that we can live on.
Conor thinks he is a hero because he found our land.
Columbus was a Villain
Sarah thinks he is a villain because he put chains on people and took people and stole spices and silk and gold and people.  He also killed people and spread germs which is not nice.  And he put chains on people.
Alexander thinks he was a villain because he stole gold and spices.

Peyton thinks he is a villain because he stole people, gold, and spices.
Michaela thinks he is a villain because he stole spices and gold and killed people and put our germs and killed some people.

Teddy Bear Picnic

To celebrate learning about the teddy bear president: Teddy Roosevelt, we had a teddy bear picnic.  Everyone got to bring their favorite bear to school today and we had a blast!

We loved having our teddy bears with us to learn today!  They even did RIGGS with us!

A goofy picture with our bears.

You can't bring a stuffed animal to school without wanting to throw it!

We decided to have our picnic inside because it was so cold and windy outside!

We had 2 different kinds of cookies (one was shaped like a bear!) and juice!

Everyone enjoyed the picnic with friends and stuffed animals!  We even had picnic music!

RIGGS on our desks

Shhh...don't tell anyone!  We wrote on our desks for RIGGS today!  We used a special marker and wrote the /qu/ phonogram on our desk to practice how to write it and say it!  Tomorrow we will practice it on paper!
