Christopher Columbus

This week we learned some good things about Columbus and some bad things.  We got to choose if we thought he was a hero or a villain.  What do you think?

Was Columbus a hero or a villain?

Delaney- He was mostly bad because he stole land.

Addy- He was a villain because he stole stuff from the people on the new land.  I also don’t like that he brought germs to the new people.  It’s difficult to choose because he was so smart but he was still a villain.

Ava- He was a villain because he stole the land, spices, and jewels for the queen.  He also stole the soft stuff from the people on the new land.

Logan- He was bad because he stole people from the new land.

Kailey- He was bad because he stole people’s land and gave it to the queen.

Annabelle- He was bad because even his men didn’t like him and wanted to throw him overboard.

Aubrey- He was good because he left stuff for the new people.

Hunter- I think he is a hero because he wanted to bring spices to the queen to make her food good.

Toron- I think he was good because he discovered new land.

Connor- He was bad because the queen got new land that was stolen.

Luke- He was a villain because he stole stuff from the people.

Colten- He was good because he found new land for all of his people.

Ellie- He was bad because he stole all of the gold and spices.  He stole because he wanted the spices for his food to taste good and he wanted nice clothes.

Haiden- I think he was a villain because he made people go on the boat back with him to Spain.

Cooper- He is a “lemon” because stole the gold and spices and silk.

Jack-o-lanterns

I always feel badly when I have to recycle my kombucha bottles so I have been coming up with different ways to reuse them!  This week we got to make "kombucha bottle jack-o-lanterns!"

Teddy Bear picnic

We got to bring our teddy bears to school and have a picnic!  It was so fun!  One kid said it was "THE BEST DAY EVER!"

Around the world with Ms. Baker's class!

We just spent the last month taking an imaginary trip around the world!  It was so fun to see the Eiffel Tower and Nessie in Europe, go on a safari in Africa, sing at the Sydney Opera House and go on a walkabout in Australia, have a snowball fight in Antarctica, learn about football in North America, see the rain forest in South America, and make kites and see elephants do really cool things in Asia!

We made globed to see what each continent looked like!

Passports and suitcases are ready so we're off!

Henna tattoos and head coverings in the Middle East!

The boys got henna tattoos too!

On safari in Africa!

Making maps!

Protecting ourselves with a "poisoned blow dart" in South America!

Kites in Asia!

Learning to use chopsticks in Asia!

Greek Salad in Europe!

Applesauce

To celebrate Johnny Appleseed, we got to make applesauce!  We cut up apples, cooked them, blended them, added cinnamon, cooled them, then ate them!  It was delicious!
